Men’s Individual Therapy

Bare-knuckle approach to Life

As a man, often you’ve been conditioned to think that talking about your feelings is a sign of weakness.

Society views men as powerful beings that should be the best at everything they do. This includes being the fittest, most educated, make the most money, drive the nicest car, have the most attractive partner, and the list goes on.

When this idea is not a reality, you become frustrated, sad, and disappointed at your lack of accomplishments – perhaps feel emasculated.

Let go of the image of yourself that is no longer serving you

Feeling as though your life is out of control leads to dissatisfaction with work and your personal and intimate relationships. You struggle to communicate your true feelings to your friends or partner. You wonder how to handle your feelings.

Where do you go for an open discussion? How do you find solutions?

Taking the first step toward change

Men’s Individual Therapy recognizes that the need for help is potentially humiliating for men. Masculinity is core to a man’s identity, and there is often stigmatization in help-seeking.

Men consider themselves more powerful, privileged, and less vulnerable than women. Therefore, they are less likely to seek help, even though they are equally vulnerable to the same factors that can threaten an individual’s mental health and well-being.

Once a man understands this, then seeking secure and understanding counseling makes more sense.

Seeking secure counseling

Counselling men requires a specialized understanding of their unique needs.

Men’s Individual Therapy is a male-focused service that supports men who are experiencing difficulties gaining new skills and dealing more effectively with their situations.

It isn’t about ‘fixing’ men. I look at what is working in a man’s life, what is not working, and what changes he would like to see. Then we set about developing practical strategies to bring about positive results.
